Take some time off from exploring the new updates and read the last part of our WOD Lore series: The Council of Dragons The mighty Draconus meets Sinadra, read on to see what happens... ? ?? The Shadows in the Snow ? ?? Drakh'onos trudged through the frozen wastes of the northernlands cursing the ice and the snow and the cutting wind and her own pressing need to know the truth. Bal'thuzek had said that he'd seen no evidence of the All-Father's presence in his own domain and had refused to speak further on the subject. Gul'kuras spoke of being attacked by a group of shadowy fiends near the human lands, beings who seemed to be made of darkness incarnate. But even Gul'kuras had known nothing beyond that. Or at least he hadn't said anything. In truth, he'd seemed just as eager to end their most recent council as Bal'thuzek had been. What had he seen, exactly? Had Bal'thuzek seen something that frightened him so badly his usual bravado and anger had failed him, the only response left a surly indifference? Drakh'onos didn't know. She didn't know much of anything anymore she felt. The only news the winds brought to her mountains of the outside world was pain and suffering. The humans struggled and died. The demons were making their move. And underneath it all, separate from the actions of man and angel and demon, something whispered to her, an unsettling voice speaking from unseen shadows. A darkness that fed on terror. A cold intelligence that made monsters out of nightmares. A being out of legend that served no master but only the propagation of fear. The dragons had defeated it ages past, before Drakh'onos's own time. They had defeated it again and again, but it always returned when the world seemed to be most troubled, when the currents of the winds and the waters spoke only of trouble... continue reading the rest of the tale here: http://goo.gl/lEUc8

Read our newest WOD lore, and first of the series! The Council of Dragons: Dark Days In the tongue of dragons, he was called Bal'thuzek. To the humans whose lands he flew over and whose cattle he feasted on, he was the Wyvern. The miserable beasts lived in fear of him, and rightfully so; why shouldn't the hairless apes fear a mighty creature soaring above them and breathing fire? He was as far beyond them as they were beyond the insects that lived in the ground. Bal'thuzek was like a god to the beasts. How terrible it was that he had to help the filthy creatures if he wanted to survive the coming years. Bal'thuzek turned to face the other dragons, the stone of the mountain cracking into pebbles under his claws. He snorted, steam pouring forth from his nostrils. “I don't like what you're telling me, Drakh'onos,” he said in the tongue of dragons. “I don't like the idea that the world needs saving and it will be the... the mammals that do it!” Drakh'onos sat atop the mountain like some great, horned statue. She watched the sun setting below the horizon. A light snow was falling, but she paid it no mind. Night was falling over the land. From her lofty perch, Drakh'onos could see the darkness swallowing up village after village, nation after nation. So much like the demons. Evil incarnate pouring forth from the lands of the Hilda Empire, darkening the surrounding nations. Oh, the folly of the humans to ally themselves with demons. “Are you listening to me, Drakh'onos?” Drakh'onos turned his attention towards Bal'thuzek, her heavy brows furrowing in annoyance. Bal'thuzek was young and impetuous, of an angry temperament. If Drakh'onos had her choice, the Council would have nothing to do with the child. But Bal'thuzek was a dragon and he was due a dragon's respect. “I hear you, brother, but I don't know what you expect me to do about it. We cannot alter prophecy.” Bal'thuzek spat on the ground. His saliva hissed and sizzled through the air and sent gouts of steam into the air. “That's what I think of your prophecy!” A low growl started in Drakh'onos's throat. Bal'thuzek drew back for a moment, surprised at the display of aggression from the elder dragon, but he gave no ground. Instead, Gul'kuras broke the silence, his iridescent scales catching the light and shining as he moved.“What Drakh'onos is trying to say, Wyvern, is that prophecy does not care what you think of it. It will be what it will be.” Bal'thuzek snorted. “Do not call me Wyvern, Gul'kuras. I do not deign to call you by your mortal name.” Gul'kuras smiled, scaled lips pulling back to reveal row after row of sharpened fangs. “There is nothing wrong with a human name, Wyvern. I don't mind that the humans know me as Drakeling. To mind would be to give them power. That's what you're too young to understand.” “No human can claim power over me!” “Can't they? If you attack like an unthinking animal when you hear your human name, if that's your only reaction and they know that, is that not a means by which they can control you?” “Enough!” Drakh'onos roared. The other two dragons snapped their attention towards her, cowed by her presence. Somewhere farther down the mountain, the echoes of her roar loosened snow and sent it tumbling in a small avalanche. If that snow should crush an errant hiker, or perhaps even a village, it didn't matter. Such things were beneath the notice of dragons. “I will not have you two snapping at each other like hatchlings in my presence! We have more pressing concerns to address.” Gul'kuras bowed his head in deference. “Yes, Drakh'onos.” Bal'thuzek grumbled, but he also bowed his head. “As you wish.” Drakh'onos took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Now, then. Let us put aside this talk of humans and demons for a moment and discuss the more pressing issue.” “Which is?” Bal'thuzek asked. Drakh'onos ignored the feigned annoyance in his voice. “Which is the end of the world. A threat to Galensya nearly as great as the demons. The All-Father is awakening.” ~'Like' this story? check out the author's personal blog at: http://stupendousstories.wordpress.com/

Angelborn~ I first heard the voices when I was but a young boy, when I was feeling at my lowest, when the other children in the voices were teasing and tormenting me. The voices came to me like a heavenly chorus, musical and otherworldly. “You will change the world,” they said. “You must leave this place and venture forth to do our divine will.” I ignored them at first. I was just a boy, after all. How could I possibly think of leaving my friends and my family? And then one day, as I laid in the dirt with a bloody nose and the other children standing above me laughing, I decided that it was time to go. I threw my things into a sack and left my home in the night. “Go north,” the voices told me, and so I did. “Forget your old name. You are Penance now,” and so I was. I wandered for weeks, eating and avoiding the plants and animals that the voices told me. I spent my days hungry and tired, my nights afraid of the noises that lurked in the dark, and all the while, my only companions were the voices that I heard. I was miserable, but the voices encouraged me and gave me strength. “We must reveal a secret to you, Penance. You are no normal human. You are descended from the beings of the Heavens. You are angelborn.” For forty days and forty nights, I existed in a state of total misery. The only thing that gave me the strength to go on was the idea that I was part angel, and no angel would let hunger and tiredness defeat them. I remember waking up shivering at the front gate of a monastery, but I don't remember how I got there. Aged men in robes found me there. They brought me inside and fed me a thin porridge and asked me where I had come from and what had brought me to their home. “Tell them nothing of your past!” the voices whispered. And so I didn't. They accepted me anyway, and once I was strong enough, they asked me where I would go and what I would do. “You must stay with them,” the voices told me. “They have much to teach you.” And so I did For years I stayed with them, cleaning the monastery, tending the fields, doing the physical labor that they as old men could not do. In exchange the monks gave me a place to live and food to eat. They taught me the ways of their religion. I grew big and strong and wise, but I heard the voices less and less as I grew older. The monks told me that the voices were just my imagination, something I'd invented to soothe me during periods of loneliness and difficulty. I didn't believe them, but I couldn't prove otherwise, and so I said nothing. This was my life for many long days, until one morning I woke up to a soft, musical whisper. “It is time to go.” The voices spoke to me only the one time, and I could scarcely be sure that I'd heard them at all. Still, after reflecting on the message, I bid the monks farewell and left the monastery to become a wandered once more. But my journey was nothing like when I was in a boy. I was clothed in the ceremonial finery of the monks' religion, well-outfitted for the open road. The villages I stayed at welcomed me, listened to what I had to say, begged me to bless them and their crops and their children. And I did so, gladly, but all the while I carried a secret sadness in my heart, for I no longer had the voices to keep me company. I was traveling between villages, my mind distracted by thoughts of the Heavens, when I was accosted by a group of thieves. They drew daggers and clubs and they surrounded me like a pack of wolves. “Your money or your life, holy man,” their leader said. I smiled as non-threateningly as I could and raised up my hands. “Put down the weapons, boys. You don't need to do this. There's no need for violence.” Their leader sneered and gave a slight, almost imperceptible nod of his head. “Oh, but there is,” he said. And my world exploded into pain. One of his minions had circled behind me and slipped a blade between my ribs. I pitched forward face-first into the dirt and I lay there. “I'm going to die,” I thought. “This is it. I'm going to die.” “No,” voices said to me, as loud and as clear as the notes of an organ echoing through a cathedral. The pain from my beating began to recede, and in its place I felt warmth. With every breath, I felt lighter, stronger. The world itself felt warmer to me and when I opened my eyes, I saw that things were sharper, clearer. I turned to look at my attackers and was surprised to see them beneath me, gazing up at me in shock and fear. More than that I was surprised to realize that I could see their souls, stunted black things that glowed nevertheless, glowed with the potential that lay caked and buried underneath layers of sin and weakness. “You have died, and now you are reborn,” The voices said. “You are mortal no longer. “You are angelborn.” ~'Like' this story? check out the author's personal blog at: http://stupendousstories.wordpress.com/

Want to know the origin of the pet Zagan? one of WOD's classic pet- go on and have a read! --BOUND-- They bound me. Little pink things of meat and blood and bone. Disgusting. Weak. They tore me from my home of stone and metal and fire and locked me in a crude mockery of it. Walls carved from rock and lit with sticks that burned faintly. Pink things clad in metal would come in. I roared and tried to attack them, but bright flashes of magic burned me to my core. “Don't be afraid, boys! You see how stupid the creature is? There is no intelligence in its eyes. Just dumb animal rage.” “It's hideous!” “It is. It's existence is a stain upon all the world. But this is the enemy, and as Paladins of the Holy Dawn, we must know how to battle it and its kind! Remember, boys! It doesn't know true strength!” * * * For years, they kept me locked in that room. They attacked me with swords and magic, chipping away at me and scarring my body. And when I felt my weakest, like my form would collapse and I might finally return home, they used their magics to heal me and bind me all the stronger. Being trapped in the mortal world changed me. My form became more like that of the pink things. “Do you see, boys?” they said. “They are simple, moldable creatures. They adapt to their environment. Look how it becomes more human! It must be a self-defense mechanism. Submissiveness. Perhaps it thinks that if it becomes more like its betters, they will leave it alone. We won't, of course.” They began summoning and binding others. Other beings like me, but smaller and weaker. They made me slaughter them. I felt badly. At first. Then I realized that the other beings were weak. Disgusting. More like the pink things than like me. They begged for mercy. I showed them none. * * * “What a strange creature,” they said. “Have you ever seen anything like it? It forms a cocoon, like an insect.” “Do you think it's going to turn into a butterfly?” They laughed. “Perhaps it'll look like one of us. It grew legs and arms. Maybe it wants to be human.” If I could have laughed, I never would have stopped. It was true that I had learned from them. I had learned the benefits of armor, the power of a weapon. But to want to be human? More like a fragile creature of meat and blood? No, I was becoming more like my home. Stone. Metal. Fire. I was becoming something they couldn't cut with their blades, something they couldn't control with their magics. And when I became unbound, I would show them true strength. ~'Like' this story? check out the author's personal blog at: http://stupendousstories.wordpress.com/ some content may not be suitable for younger audiences.
Born of Stone and Flame The first explorers to ever encounter the Wyvern could not have begun to guess at the beast's true nature. Short and squat and almost reptile-like, the creature proved itself relentlessly aggressive. The explorers had come to its home in the Thorace Mountains search of precious metals and minerals, and instead they were greeted by a fiend with all the fury of a volcano. It roared, steam pouring from its mouth and its nostrils like smoke from a blacksmith's forge. It charged them like a landslide hurtling down the mountain. It trampled the men underfoot. It battered them with its tail like a club. The men fled, dragging their wounded and their fallen with them. All except for one boy, a servant who had been forgotten as the greedy explorers scrambled for their lives. The beast stood over the child, snorting like an enraged bull. It sniffed the air, and then it turned away, its heavy footsteps echoing off the cavern walls. The boy watched it disappear into the dark, stale air of the cave, and when he was sure the beast wouldn't come back, he stood up and ran. For nearly a decade, no one ventured to those mountains, but in time the lure of gold and silver and jewels became too great to ignore. Explorers came once more, prospectors and armed warriors to defend them. They brought swords and maces and plate armor. They thought that if the beast was encountered again, they'd be prepared. They weren't. Instead of squat monster whose shoulders came to the explorer's waists, they found a demon waiting for them. It stood on two legs, and when it roared, the cavern became an oven. It blew them aside with gusts from its mighty wings, and fangs like knives pierced their armor as though it was nothing more than paper. What few wounds the explorers could inflict on the beast resulted only in gouts of blood that burned and scalded. The men were ready to fight a dumb beast, not a creature that had the intelligence of a man, the strength of a bear, and the fury of a rabid wolf. Those who could fled. Those who couldn't were never heard from again... read the whole back story of the Wyvern here: http://forum.sns.browsergame.com/viewtopic.php?f=99&t=56164 ~'Like' this story? check out the author's personal blog at: http://forum.sns.browsergame.com/viewtopic.php?f=99&t=56164 some content may not be suitable for younger audiences.

Tybalt's Destiny~ Ever since I was a pup, I've been better than my litter mates. Stronger. Faster. Smarter. The elders took special notice of me and they sent me to be trained by our tribe's greatest warriors and most learned scholars. They taught me to fight with tooth and claw. They taught me to fight with the humans' weapons. And when my skills were developed enough, they taught me to focus the spiritual energy that flows through all of the pack and use it tear our enemies apart. At the coming of age ceremony, I stood before all the tribe, my fur wet with the blood of the most fearsome predator I could find, and the elders smiled upon me. In the days to come, they told me what my mission would be. “You must go to the human lands,” they said. “You'll meet a great warrior there, a mortal with the power of angels. “Dark forces are at work. Demons are manipulating the humans to bring about their ruination. “Why do we care what becomes of the humans?” “We don't. But the demons want nothing less than to destroy our world and then march on the Heavens. Destroying the humans is just the first step in that plan. They will surely come for us next.” The tribe held a feast in my honor that night, as the elders insisted that I would leave the next morning. There was laughing and drinking and celebrating, and I'd never felt more secure in my destiny as a hero. But that night, I had a dream. A figure in shadows spoke to me. “They lie, you know. They don't think that you're a hero. They fear you. They fear your power. They have had visions of you returning from a distant journey and bringing death and destruction to the tribe.” The figure grinned, a mouthful of sharp white teeth shining in the dark. “They want you to die.” I didn't sleep well that night, or ever again. My thoughts have been haunted by visions of the figure in the dark, of the nameless hero that I'm supposed to meet in the human lands. I will go, and I will find this hero, and I will fight the evil. I am a warrior. I can do no less. But I cannot free myself from the idea that I will never see my home again. ~'Like' this story? check out the author's personal blog at: http://stupendousstories.wordpress.com some content may not be suitable for younger audiences.
